Buying a Watch to Retain Value

It’s New Year (2022 if you can believe it) and ruminating over resolutions always reminds me of something my best friend from college once pointed out – why is it that we’re always making difficult resolutions? Why not slip in at least one that would be fun to keep?

Indeed, why not? We think that resolving to collect more beautiful things, particularly watches, is the perfect joyful resolution for this year. Now when the world feels fraught with craziness and turmoil, our collections can bring some peace to our lives by reminding us that people can create stunning things of great beauty.

And if we’re going to collect, we might as well collect with value in mind. Nothing wrong with adding a watch to a collection simply because we like it, but we’d prefer to see our collections at least maintain their value, giving us reason to preserve them for the next generation.

With that in mind, we wanted to share another great article from Crown & Caliber with a few fundamentals “to look for if you want to increase the chances of a buying a timepiece that will retail its value for years to come.” Collecting for enjoyment is fun, but knowing your collection has value creates a satisfaction of ownership that is almost indescribable.

Happy New Year!
