We’ve talked almost ad nauseam about the differences between investing and collecting here, so when we read this in last week’s article on Chenmark’s Weekly Thoughts:

We knew we needed to read the entire article. Which we did and recommend. In a few paragraph, five-minute read can be found the essence of why two ideas that seem fundamentally different can be so inextricably intertwined:

Indeed. As humans, we tend to prefer the tidy ease of one approach, which can lead us to miss this important point. The “messy middle” is where most of the benefit and the fun – the good stuff – actually lies. In the tension. Are you an investor or a collector? Why would you not be both?
